Ordering Transcripts
Official Transcripts

Official transcripts are available to both current and former students at no cost though our partner Parchment. Click the button below to be taken to the Parchment website to create an account and begin the process of ordering your transcript.
Current students may also find the Parchment link on their Academics Dashboard in Workday.
The official transcript is a certified document of your academic history. It includes your currently in-progress courses, courses completed, final grades earned, credit hours, grade point averages, and any degree(s) awarded. The official transcript bears the Iowa State University seal, signature of the Registrar, and is printed on secure paper.
Within Parchment, you may request expedited shipping. Parchment may apply charges may be applied if this is requested.

Order Information
In-person pick up-
We do not offer the ability for students to pick up their transcript in our office at this time.
End of semester grades and degrees -
Grades are available on transcripts the day after the final grade submit deadline. Degrees are available on transcripts approximately three weeks after the end of the semester. On the order form you may select to process now, hold for grades, or hold for degrees.
Processing times-
Orders usually process within 1-2 business days of placing your order. Transcripts that are being sent via domestic mail usually allow up to 15 business days for domestic mail delivery and 30 for international mail delivery.
Third parties-
Due to FERPA, The Office of the Registrar cannot release a student’s transcript to a third party without the student's permission. The student themself will need to order their transcript from Parchment and have it sent as a secure PDF or via physical mail to the third party.
Third parties may request a transcript on behalf of a student with a signed consent form.
Holds-
You will need to resolve any transcript release holds on your account prior to ordering your transcript. To view any active holds on your account, login to Workday and go to your Academics Dashboard. Scroll down to the ‘My Holds’ section to see any holds that may be on your account. Click on a hold to see resolution instructions.
Transcripts from other institutions-
Iowa State University cannot provide transcripts from other institutions you may have attended. If transcripts are needed from those institutions, you will need to order from them directly.
Explaining your transcript-
If you are uncertain what something means on the official transcript, please reference the legend that accompanies each transcript. This legend is printed on an additional sheet of paper that explains the codes, grading basses, and course information that is viewable on the transcript.
Attachments-
Attachments may be uploaded within the order form to be sent with transcripts. Approved attachments include transcript tracking and matching forms and documents verified by the Office of the Registrar. Other documents, such as resumes or transcripts from other institutions, must be sent under separate cover.
Name changes-
Transcripts will display your legal name only. If you are a currently enrolled student and need to update your name, you may update your name in Workday. Please reference this page for directions.
If you are a former student, please contact our office at academicrec@iastate.edu and indicate the name you attended under, the last time you attended Iowa State University, and include at least one legal document or form of ID to support your name change- DO NOT send an image of your Social Security card. If you have additional questions, please email us at the above address.
Unofficial Transcripts
With the discontinuation of AccessPlus, former students should order an official transcript via Parchment. The Office of the Registrar does not provide copies of the unofficial transcript.
